Joint Safety Committee

Safety Committee met April 22, May 6, and May 20, 2024

Discussion on parking at SOTA what can be done to keep cars out of bus ways and keep drivers and students safe. 

Discussion on the assaults and passenger bans. Possible pictures to be posted on tv monitors in breakroom. 

Discussion on concrete slabs and drains in garage needing to be fixed for safety hazard to employees. 

Discussion on Nova Busses and having them rotate so drivers don’t get the same bus every day, also we asked to have the new seats removed completely. 

Discussion on safety on the bus. When drivers clearly state that they feel unsafe, supervisor must act accordingly. Not telling the driver to drive the bus. 

 

Cope:

Attended J Romeo event April 23rd

Attended the senator Cooney press conference May 10th  where he was announced the chairman of the Senate transportation committee. During this meeting Senator Cooney commended the Union and its members with a special shoutout to Mercedes De Leon for her professionalism and excellence

RTS Monroe Property

Union has demanded for the lines to be painted since last fall. we asked for them to make the lanes wider and more defined so members can easily access the buses for service and maintance as of today it seem as they are hearing us.  

 

New Business:

Atu partnered with Rts in the Unted way campaign. Where the members voted to donate to help. There will be a kickoff party on June 5,2024 at the RTS Monroe campus 


The AFL-CIO is sponsoring a Union Day with the Red Wing This is a great opportunity each year to join your union sisters and brothers at the game! This game will be against the Buffalo Bisons. Gates open at 5:00pm at the first pitch will be just after 6:45pm!
